Net Etiquette broached the topic of teens and net etiquette today, while dealing with parenting issues of a 12-year-old adolescence in the home front.  Texting is the new IN thing for Teens.  Today’s young have their heads down while they tweet away texting each other.  Fast real-time notes, fly back and forth while teens are disengaging from life into their social networking world.  Net Etiquette applauds Michelle Schaefer, Author of And You Will Have Kids, for sharing her experience of having 2 teenagers who text and the new social net etiquette issues in teen society today.   In today’s Internet world teens have grown up on crib toys by Leapfrog and have literally been weened on the computer and Internet.  Texting is a new means of communication in real-time for teens.  Textings is detachment from life  and oral conversations into the social network world.  Teens and texting is becoming a net etiquette issue and parental guidance issue in many families today.  Michelle  makes refers to teens NOT choosing their words carefully and texting mean thing to each other.  Words they would not have the courage to say in person.

Net etiquette boundaries are part of the new roles parents should discuss with the teens.  There is a time and place for texting, rules should be set about times not they can not text.   Not texting during meals is a net etiquette rule and proper manners for today’s social behavior patterns.  Teaching your children manners for today’s social media society also falls into safety guidelines and rules.  If your not clear, your 14-year-old daughter or son could be in danger.  People do not always tell the truth on the internet and can easily pretend they are someone they are not.  Horrifying headline news about Facebook, Myspace, and Craigslist are often of crime and tragedies over this teens and this subject.  Do you know who your children are texting?  As a parent you should tell your children, the family will have cell phone checks randomly. Thus keeping parental rules in check and enforcing  your children to text with thought and caution. After all you are paying the bills.  Set examples as a parent as well.  Are you not picking up the phone and communicating to your children or are you texting them?  A person that is a good communication is always on a divine path.  Remember be nice, be polite, say nice things on the Internet!
